<p>Gymnastic apparatus, for strengthening the muscles of the abdomen and the back consists simply of two wedge shaped blocks (2) and a cross-bar (3). The blocks are placed, one at the foot of each doorpost (5) and the cross-bar inserted in the holes in each block. The person using the apparatus lies on the floor on the opposite side of the doorpost from the blocks and places the instep of each foot under the bar. The exercises are then performed by alternately raising the body to the sitting position and then reclining.</p> |
