Patterns are produced on an absorbent, especially unglazed ceramic plate with a contoured surface, by contacles, oblique spraying of a colouring agent. A soln. of a heavy metal salt is used as colouring agent. Pref. salts are, depending on the required colour, Cu, co, Cr, Fe, Mr or Ni salts. Pref. salts are organic salts, e.g. acetates, citrates and tartrates. Pref. a flux, e.g. feldspar, is suspended in the salt soln. The inclination of the different faces of the contoured surface to the spraying angle is adjusted according to the required intensity of colour. Colourless surfaces are produced where the faces are steeper than the spraying angle. Reproducible patterns are produced by the exactly reproduced geometrical form of the pressed contours. Heavy metal solns. are used instead of the usual pigments since they do not form a colour coating, but instead enter into the surface layer of the body.
|
