The time base control for a flexible time working system allows monitoring of the variable lunchtime break of a number of different workers. The system is designed to handle a variable mid day break from 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours. The input (1) is coupled to a memory (2) that logs the periods that a worker is present. The memory is controlled over selector logic (3) and a control unit (5) coupled to an electronic clock. When a mid day break period is involved a signal (6) operates through gating logic to control a word addressable memory (20) monitoring the periods taken by different workers.
