The computer-controlled tube post system allows several slugs to travel at the same time. It has a central distribution unit with a storage and separation mechanism for each line, and stations with destination selector mechanisms. A central electronic control and monitoring unit in the form of a computer initiates and regulates the operations both of the sending and receiving stations and also the electrical and mechanical ones of the distribution unit. It calls out the slugs stored individually at the sending stations to a pattern determined by their number of slugs in the storage and separation mechanisms, and monitors their arrival and departure.
