Gas-tight clothing relief valve - has collar enclosing protective cap and shielding discharge slots

The one-way non-return valve is for gastight protective clothing, particularly for use by troops in action. It has a one-piece holder with spokes extending across a central opening and a bearing head where the spokes cross for a sealing non-return diaphragm on the outlet side. Round the periphery on the latter are a series of protrusions on which a protective cap fits, discharge slots being formed between the protrusions. An externally-screwed pipe union has a sealing flange round it, while a clamping ring with mating flange screws onto it. The mouths of the discharge slots (30, 31) are shielded by a closed collar (19) clear of them and enclosing the cap (1) for its entire periphery.
