A rocker switch having a capless lamp mounted within the rocker has at least one of the connection leads for the lamp within a transverse hole (15) in the rocker axle (16) or a projection (7). Typically, a rocker switch has a rocker member (6) mounted on an axle (16) in a housing member (20). The rocker member actuates a contact carrier (8) to make or break connections between two leads (18, 19). Within the rocker member is a capless neon lamp (13) and ballast resistor (12). Electrical connecting leads for the lamp pass through a transverse hole in the rocker actuator member (7) and make contact by way of a spring (10) and capsule (11) with the rocker contact member (8).
