The whiskers, typically of silicon or III-V semi-conductor compound, are grown by known vapourliquid-solid method on either a polysilicon substrate, or on electrically conductive strips which constitute an electrode of the cell. A light transparent conductive layer 12, e.g. of tin oxide doped with antimony, provided in the whiskers constitutes the second electrode. |
