1529383 Magnetic heads FERROXCUBE CORP 21 Jan 1976 [24 Jan 1975] 2322/76 Heading G5R In a method of manufacturing the polepiece assembly of a magnetic head in which a planar surface 26 is formed in one polepiece 10 to extend obliquely away from the gap face 12 and a channel 16 is formed in the gap face, glass is first melted in the channel 16 and after it has solidified it is then polished level with the gap face. The polepiece is then placed against its opposing polepiece 13 and glass 70 is melted in the triangular channel defined between the surfaces of the polepieces together with the glass in the channel 16 so that there is a flow of glass into the gaps between the pole faces. After solidification of the glass a unitary assembly is formed and the channel 16 may then be removed by cutting. |
