1529172 Winding end-turn insulation WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 4 May 1977 [4 May 1976] 18650/77 Heading H2A The inter-connected ends 32A, 32B, of coils 36 forming a stator winding of a hydrogenerator are encapsulated in cast resin. As shown the ends are interconnected by braked bars 38. A pad of conformable material, e.g. polyethylene foam or spun glass fibre is then clamped around the ends by bars 52, 54, and a sleeve 60 is disposed thereon to form a mould. The sleeve is held down tightly by springs 70, and a butyl rubber sealant 75 may seal the pad to the tube and/or conductors. A release agent may be applied to the pad. The sleeve is then filled with a potting compound comprising silica-filled epoxy resin. This mixture is cured and the pad removed. |
