<p>1528772 Treating manganese ores KENNECOTT COPPER CORP 20 Aug 1975 [26 Aug 1974] 34514/75 Heading C1A An ore (particularly deep sea nodules) containing manganese dioxide is treated to enable base metal values therein to be recovered by (a) calcining to convert MnO 2 to intermediate oxides of manganese, (b) reducing to convert these intermediate oxides to MnO, (c) leaching with an ammonia-ammonium carbonate solution containing cupric copper, and (d) oxidizing the metal values in the leached solution with raw manganese ore to convert them to a higher oxidation state and to enable the metal values in the raw ore to be leached in the leach solution.</p> |
