APPARATUS FOR CLAMPING MOLD OF INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE This molding machine has a mechanical linkage that opens and closes the mold without applying pressure to hold the mold closed. Hydraulic cylinders with short strokes apply pressure after the mold is closed and the mechanical linkage is no longer in motion. Mechanical wear is thereby eliminated. For multi-mold machines, the linkage for the different molds are mechanically connected and operated simultaneously form a common power source. Where the movable mold parts are heavy, an auxiliary power cylinder connected with the movable mold part in line with its center of gravity can be used to open the mold with less effort required from the linkage.
