<p>An acoustically insulating lining material comprises a layer of expanded plastic material supported on an open mesh fabric covered externally with a fire resistant plastic coating. Used esp. (claimed) for lining, metallic walls such as the cabs of lorries or tractors, the composite lining is tough, washable, attractive and readily curved or cut, stitched or welded to fit a variety of surface shapes, can be secured by adhesives or clips. The foam layer is 5-25 mm thick with a roughly 1:2 closed: open cell structure, pref. made of an ester based polyurethane and having an apparent density of 35-40 kg/m3. The fabric is pref. a jersey weave cotton fabric or grammage 50-70 g/m2. The coating is of PVC at a loading of 300-400 g/m2. The substrate and the coating may be perforated.</p> |
