For the purpose of temperature measurement, use is made here of a heat-sensitive member in the form of a contact shoe (14) which is pressed onto the material web (20) and itself assumes the temperature of the material web. A temperature detector (15), for example in the form of a thermal resistor, transmits an electrical quantity corresponding to the temperature of the contact shoe. In order to guarantee a permanent contact of the contact shoe with the material web, said shoe is mounted on a spring-loaded beam (10), and is pressed from below or from above against the material web with a moderate contact force. This device is applied preferably at least in a two fold manner against a material web in order to be able to monitor the temperature distribution more effectively. In this arrangement, the evaluation can be performed in such a way that in each case only the signal of the contact shoe with the higher temperature is evaluated. <IMAGE>
