<p>Plant for pyrolysis of waste prodt concentrats initially contg. water, consists of a container in which the concentrated solids are mixed with an oil, a heated evaporator connected to the container by a pipe, a burner to supply the heat used in the evaporator for evaporation, pyrolysis equipment in which the water-free mixt. of solids and oil is decomposed into organic vapours, gases and a residue of carbonised prodts. and ash. Plant is esp. for pyrolysis of moist filter aids contg. waste organic materials, black liquors contg. lignin and salts from cellulose prodn. by the kraft process, effluent sludes, etc. The vapours and gases from the pyrolysis stage are used to provide heat for evaporation of the aq. concentrates, with reduction in external energy requirements. The oil added to keep the dried sludge in a flowable condition can be sepd. and recycled. The carbonised residue and ash form useful end-products. Release of vapours and suspended particles into the air is kept to a minimum by use of pyrolysis intead of combustions.</p> |
