Loading installation for railway waggons - uses travelling gantry with load support which can extend inside waggons

A travelling gantry (1) at a loading platform carries a truck (4) which can be traversed along the beam (1a). The truck has a turntable from which a mast (5) is suspended. A carriage (6) can be raised and lowered on the mast. Two load supports (7a) are secured to the carriage and can pick up loads (C) from a train of narrow gauge waggons (W) and transfer them to standard gauge railway waggons (W). Waggons (W) have an opening (P) into which the support (7a/7b) can be entered. Each support includes a scissor link type load carrying mechanism which can extend longitudinally of the waggon and a load pusher for depositing the load in the waggon.
