Time multiplexed data switching system - introduces phase shifts for different data transfer rates to increase transfer capacity

The time multiplexed switching system (1) transfers messages in a synchronised data network independently of the synchronisation. The switching system has its transfer capacity increased by introducing a phase displacement between the network synchronisation signals for the various transfer rates. The angle of this phase displacement depends on the number of transfer rates and their ratio one to another. Where this ratio is 2:1, the displacement is 180 deg. between the lower and higher rates.
