External rear view mirror for vehicles - has shaft mounted in support with spring enabling swivelling movement

The external rear view mirror is supported by a bracket which is able to swivel in the mounting on the vehicle body. The bracket and mirror assembly is swivelled when a certain turning moment acting on it is exceeded and returns to its working position. A shaft (4) is connected with a bracket (1) and is held in a sleeve which is able to rotate within the support but not able to slide axially. The shaft is held so that it can move axially by means of radial projections in the grooves of the sleeve and against spring force. The sleeve has external collar and rests by it on the mounting collar on the support.
