The surgical instrument is used for holding and for clamping tissues and thread, especially a clamp as used during operations for holding and clamping of veins, nerves and body tubes. The clamping faces ensure gentle holding of the body organs yet their special coefficient of friction ensures secure holding of the thread. The jaws (1, 2) of the clamps are covered with plastics coating (4, 5). This coating is applied by a specified coating method. The plastics coating can have wave profile or the plastics coating can be anchored in the depression of the jaws (1, 2).
