In a yarn spinning process, the fibres are collected on the permeable mantle of a rotary drum near the opening of an internal suction unit paralle to the drum ends forming a defined zone of underpressure against the inner surface of the mantle. The air pressure pattern is adjusted to give a cascade-type decrease in pressure from the zone where the sliver is broken into loose fibres to the point where they reach the suction unit, so that: P1>P2>P3>Po. In the inequality, P1 is the air pressure in the flow channel, P2 is the air pressure in the zone where the fibres pass freely between the opening of the flow channel and the yarn formation line, P3 is the air pressure in the suction unit. Po is the atmospheric air pressure. The air consumption is reduced without impairing the stability of the spinning process.
|
