Eccentric helical rotor pump - has rotor assembled from successive discs with flexible circumferential sections, inside stator discs

The stator (1) of a helical rotor pump is formed from a series of discs (2) clamped axially together. Each disc has a hole (6) with semi-circular ends (7). The holes in succeeding discs are displaced from each other so that they form an internal helical surface. The rotor has a shaft (13) offset from the centre line of the stator. A series of discs (13) is clamped onto it. These discs also are displaced circumferentially from each other to form a helix. There is a ring (12) between each rotor disc and its stator disc. The outer part of each rotor disc (13) is made of flexible plastics material. This allows the disc to yield sufficiently to pass solids entrained in the liquid being pumped without damage to the pump.
