<p>1528461 Knitting-machines KROY KNIT TING DEVELOPMENTS Ltd and B Y (SIMULATED FURS) Ltd 24 Dec 1975 [3 Jan 1975] 200/75 Heading D1C For knitting high-pile fabric on a multifeed circular machine needles are preselected in advance of each carding head 16 and then undergo a reselection at the actual head so that certain needles are lowered after picking- up less than a full load of fibres or some needles which were initially inactive are raised to pick-up fibres, thereby forming tufts of different density more closely to simulate animal furs. The preselection, e.g. by cams and an overriding pattern drum, selects needles 14 to take fibres and 12 to remain inactive at the head. Then predetermined needles 14 are lowered or needles 12 raised at predetermined positions along head 16 to vary the fibre pick-up. Slivers of contrasting fibres may be fed to the head and the reselection of needles used to produce a fabric with contrasting tufts, e.g. in stripes. The reselection may be accomplished by a tricked pattern wheel 20, or by the patterning unit disclosed in the Specification of application 55798/74.</p> |
