<p>APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR FORMING A TUBE ARTICLE ON A CORE In the formation of an elastomeric tube on a toroidal core, a vacuum is applied to one side of a sheet of elastomeric material to draw the sheet toward the core, so that a portion of the sheet is deposited on the core. Such depositing of the sheet is controlled so that the core is covered to approximately the mid-circumferential plane thereof, and the excess elastomeric material is cut away from the core. The core and elastomeric material deposited thereon are then turned over and a portion of a second sheet of elastomeric material is applied to the core, to overlap the first-deposited portion continuously along the inner and outer peripheries of the core. The excess material from the second sheet is cut away, leaving an elastomeric tube formed on the core.</p> |
