<p>1456517 Filling syringes IMS LTD 19 Nov 1973 [5 July 1973 (2)] 53656/73 Heading A5R [Also in Division B8] A device for transferring fluid medicament to or from a container 34 having its outlet closed by a piercable rubber stopper 36 comprises two parallel fluid passages 10, 12 within a single elongate rigid member having its ends adapted for cutting or piercing, and a cover 54 positioned over one end of the member to enclose corresponding adjacent outlets 16, 18 of the passages and forming a fluid-tight seal with a flange 14 located substantially midway of the length of the member, the cover having at the end thereof remote from the flange an air inlet 68 with a filter 70 and a resilient cap 62 which can be pierced by a needle. The arrangement is such that the container stopper 36 can be pierced by the rigid member which is advanced until the flange abuts the container which is sealed against contamination by the cover. A syringe can be filled by inserting the needle 66 thereof through cap 62 and thereafter withdrawing the syringe plunger. Alternatively the cover 54 may be removed and the end 16, 18 of the rigid member pierced through the stopper of a further medicament container e.g. a container for dry or lyophilized material.
