A composite lamp and cigar lighter plug device for insertion in the well or holder of an electric cigar lighter for automobiles to provide a convenient map light in addition to the ignitor function. The composite device includes a lamp and knob assemblage which has a socket and switch structure that is shiftably mounted for movement between ON and OFF positions. The remainder of the composite device can be either a cooperable ignitor assemblage for conventional pop-out operation, or else a cooperable adapter functioning essentially to establish an energizing circuit to the lamp and knob assemblage. The latter thus constitutes a unique unit or article of manufacture by itself, which is useable with other different assemblages. The advantage over prior devices of this type is that the slidable socket and switch structure is instantly and easily removable from the unit without requiring tools, for quick servicing or replacement of the lamp. Also, in conjunction with the ignitor assemblage there is effected a desirable contact sequence which eliminates arcing and the resultant dirtying of contacts. |
