PURPOSE:To homogenize strength and improve interlaminar strength by interposing a single reinforcing fiber layer between plural sheets of prepreg consisting of one- and/or two-dimensional reinforcing carbon fibers impregnated with carbon powder, carrying out lamination forming and then calcining the formed material. CONSTITUTION:A dispersion prepared by dispersing 10-80wt.% self-calcinable carbon powder capable of providing a base material in 5-65wt.% synthetic resin liquid (e.g. phenolic resin) is impregnated into 5-70wt.% one- and/or two-dimensional reinforcing carbon fibers as reinforcing fibers and dried to afford sheets of prepreg. A single reinforcing fiber layer in the form of a felt, mat, paper or nonwoven fabric consisting of short fibers and/or whiskers made of at least one material selected from C, SiC, B and Si3N4 and having <=50mm fiber length is interposed between plural sheets of prepreg to carry out lamination forming. The resultant laminate is then calcined at 1000-3000 deg.C under ordinary or higher pressure. |
