Animal feed prodn. by yeast fermentation of sugar-contg. hydrolysates - using insoluble hydrolysate residue as filter aid for yeast suspension

In the prodn. of a feedstuff using the cellulose-contg. residues of hydrolysed pentose-contg. raw materials remaining after yeast fermentation of the fermentable sugar the yeast suspension obtd. after fermentation of the hydrolysate is conc. by gravity filtration and subsequently dried. The fibre-contg. sugar-free residues of the hydrolysis are used as a filter aid for the filtration of the yeast suspension before use as a feedstuff. The fibrous residue from the hydrolysate gives improved filtration (de-watering) of the yeast suspension.
