<p>Feed is supplied to pigs in pens (1, 1') separated by a central passage (2) from hopers (4, 4') which run on wheels (6) on horizontal rails (3, 3') above the pens. The hoppers are loaded from a main hopper (7) by an elevator. A cylinder is fitted below each hopper (4, 4'). The top and bottom of each cylinder is closed except for an opening in each, the openings being staggered. The side of cylinder adjacent the lower opening is enlarged. Radial partitions extend from a central shaft which can be rotated by a star wheel which engages in a rack on the rail. As the hopper moves along the rail the star wheel is turned, displacing feed between adjacent partitions for discharge into each pen.</p> |
