Monitor for circuit activity in automatic telephone exchange - utilises principal processor controlling auxiliary units which perform monitoring procedures on traffic density

Several auxiliary microprogrammed microprocessors are employed to monitor activity of electrical circuits within an automatic telephone exchange. A principal processor performs appropriate calculations to determine required information such as traffic density and defective circuits. A number of auxiliary monitoring stations (100) collect activity information of parts of an exchange. Each monitor contains an auxiliary processor (103) controlled from information on a bus (106) from a principal processor. The auxiliary processors control exploration by addressing the monitor circuits (101) connected (102) to various monitored points. When these processors are addressed the monitored information is transmitted via connections (109) onto a bus (108) to the principal processor.
