<p>A synthetic film is metallised on one surface under vacuum with a layer of metal having a thickness of from 10 - 1000 A, for use when laminated in capacitors. At least two synthetic films one above the other are fed through the installation and coated with metal as normally. Pref. >=2 films of the same thickness are processed with one lieing upon the other, and >=2 films of the same polymer are used. The films are =10 mu thick, and are pref. biaxially-stretched films of polypropylene or polyester, guided through the installation so that the metal is applied to the upper and lower surface of the double band. The films ar of the type mtd. according to the technique described in DT 2431385. Ensures uniform thickness for the metal layer at higher processing speeds without tears and creases being caused, so that the product finds application wehre exceptionally high standards are imposed. The two films do not need to be sepd. for capacitor prodn. Moreover, since dust is prevented from soiling the inner surfaces, scrap is reduced. By the method indicated, the films are extruded and orientated in two layers are not separated before passing the metallising plant.</p> |
