Colour TV CRT with slotted mask - has decreased separation between rows of slots towards centre of top and bottom of screen

The cathode ray tube for a colour television receiver which has a rectangular screen and an approximately rectangular colour selector mask. The electron transit holes are in the form of longitudinal slits in rows parallel to the shorter vertical sides. The major axes of the slits are at right angles to the rows of slits. The distances between the rows of slits (8) in planes (10, 11) parallel to the longer axis of symmetry (x) will vary with the distance from that axis. The smaller distances will occur nearer the shorter axis of symmetry (y). The rows of slits in the corner regions (2) are almost the same as those on the longitudinal axis of symmetry.
