<p>A metal frame, such as is used on windows and doors, includes two extruded metal profiles (3, 4). The two profiles which have longitudinal internal grooves (8, 30) are held together by non-metallic inserts (1, 23). The inserts are made from a material which provides good thermal insulation. The location grooves for the inserts are tapered (7, 8) and they allow some lateral movement of the metal profiles in order to compensate thermal expansion and contraction. It is also possible to dismantle the frame so that damaged parts can be exchanged.</p> |
