Preventing incrustations on surfaces in aq. systems - using chemical to form thin film on contacting surface

A process to prevent the formation of incrustations on surfaces brought into contact with aq. solns. contg. substances having a tendency to separate in the crystalline state, esp. in installations for desulphurising gas fumes using solns. contg. alkali or alkaline earth metal ions as absorbing agents or in measuring devices immersed in such solns. comprises adding to the aq. solns. a chemical substance giving rise to the formation of a thin protective film on the contacting surfaces. The process is esp. applied to appts. for physical and chemical measurements in aq. medium. The process avoids blockages and also erroneous measurements.
