Electrical machine rotor to shaft coupling - uses elastomer bushes to avoid disturbance torque problems

Elastomer bushes are used in the coupling of the rotors of electrical machines with pick-off shaft. The rotor of a machine (1) has a boss (4) with a hole that locates on a drive shaft. The rotor and shaft are constrained as one by bolts (5) that are tightenend to ensure that elastomer plugs (6) expand to provide a secure grip. Any torque disturbance is handled by the plugs, rather than the shaft. Alternative bushing arrangements are presented.
