The fibre-feed apparatus serves for loosening fibres from a fibre sliver and for feeding the individual fibres to an open-end spinning apparatus which consists of two bodies of revolution (41, 42) having air-permeable casings. The bodies of revolution or screening drums (41, 42) are arranged relative to one another in such a way that they form between them a very narrow gap, into which the individual fibres are guided. The fibre-feed apparatus consists of a housing with a carding roller (48) which is rotatably mounted in a chamber and to which the fibre sliver (46) is fed by way of a channel. The fibre-feed channel (45) adjoins the chamber by way of a fibre passage slot (51) and extends as far as its mouth (52) arranged in the gusset between the rotating screening drums (41, 42). The elongate mouth (52) extends along the air-permeable surfaces of the bodies of revolution (41, 42). The surface content of the cross-section of the fibre-feed channel (45) decreases from the fibre passage slot (51) towards the mouth (52). Devices (injectors 49) for generating an air stream in the fibre-feed channel (45) are arranged in the fibre-feed channel (45). Moreover, the front and the rear limiting surface of the fibre-feed channel (45) are each inclined at an angle of less than 60 DEG relative to the mouth of the fibre-feed channel. <IMAGE>
