<p>Prepn. of suspensions for microscopy, esp. electron, microscopy, is carried out using cryofixation. Suspensions can be made of human, animal or plant cells with diameters in the order of less than a millimetre or other particles in colloidal or widely dispersed fluid suspension. Rapid cryofixation is possible on low temp. highly polished metal surfaces. Reproducible deep frozen prepn. is possible of easily and safely handles samples. Intermediate transfers are achieved without risk of temp. rising above 180 degrees Kelvin. A tube of dia. between 0.5 and 2 millimetres delivers the suspension to the metal surface at a speed higher than 50 centimetres per second into shaped-surface containers.</p> |
