<p>The gyro has two degrees of freedom and a rotor mounted in a frame. A case rotatable about a vertical axis is shaped as a pendulum or mounted in one. The frame is mounted in it with its axis of rotation perpendicular to the rotor axis and at least approx. vertical. A servo circuit reduces, via a control element, the deviation of the case w.r.t. the frame. The gyro is quickly accelerated (first phase) to a position approx. in the north direction. In the second phase the servo circuit is disconnected and deviation between frame and case is eliminated by a caging control circuit. In the second phase the pendulum freely swings in its bearing, and a device receives a correction signal corresponding to the caging circuit balanced state.</p> |
