1526910 Collapsible wheelchairs EVEREST & JENNING Ino 16 June 1977 [26 July 1976] 25228/77 Heading B7B The frame of the conventional collapsible wheelchair illustrated in Fig. 1 may be modified to allow the provision of a wider seat while retaining the major frame components unchanged. The modification consists in replacing the cross brace members 14 and 15 with larger members, and in increasing the available telescoping movement between each seat support post 21, 22 and the post 19, 20 out of which it slides during collapse of the wheelchair. The increased telescoping movement is achieved by the provision of an intermediate tube between each pair of posts 19, 21 and 20, 22. Internal tie rods are used to ensure that the intermediate tube does not separate from either of the posts with which it is associated. |
