1527237 Alkaline secondary cells OLLE LINDSTROM AB 26 Sept 1975 [27 Sept 1974] 39495/75 Heading H1B A secondary cell comprises a -ve electrode 1, the active material of which is Fe, Mg, Cd, In or Zn, a +ve electrode 2 having lead dioxide or a difficultly soluble lead (IV) compound formed from lead dioxide and an anion, separators 3 (cellulose, p.v.c., polypropylene or rubber) and an electrolyte which is an aqueous solution containing an alkali metal hydroxide and a salt which forms a compound with the lead dioxide, e.g. K 2 SO 4 , Na 2 SO 4 , LiSO 4 and may also include carbonates, phosphates, silicates or zincates. The electrodes may be bipolar (Fig. 2, not shown) and may contain polythene and graphite, pasted on a mesh or grid. The electrolyte may be circulated. The cell may be vented or sealed, and may be a button cell (Fig. 4, not shown). |
