<p>1527463 Locks KAWNEER CO INC 28 Jan 1977 [30 Jan 1976] 03594/77 Heading E2A A gravity-operated bolt 74 which extends up substantially the complete height of a door (and which is referred to as a 'protector member') slides in a channel-shaped carrier 70 and is notched at its rear 76 to receive a cam plate 78 secured by transverse screws 79 and having an oblique cam slot 78a by means of which the whole bolt assembly may slide obliquely vertically and horizontally on fixed pins 80. The bolt 74 is dead-locked by projecting pins 88 engaging L-shaped slot 90 in a vertically movable plate 84, the vertical part of the slot, Fig. 4B, preventing unauthorised retraction of the bolt. But if a panic bar (not shown) is pressed, the plate 84 is lifted thus sliding the pin along a fixed slot 83 whose obliquity corresponds to that of the bolts' movement due to slots 78a mentioned above. The bolt is latched in its retracted position by sprung pin 116 engaging hole 118 until closure of the door at 112, 114 releases it (Fig. 3A). A modification is described, suitable for surface fitment on existing doors.</p> |
