<p>N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine is produced by the reduction of a carbonylaldiminomethanephosphonate. The carbonylaldiminomethanephosphonate is produced by the reaction of glyoxal or glyoxylic acid or its esters with aminomethylphosphonic acid esters. The N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine produced is useful as a post-emergent herbicide.</p> |
