1455910 Calciferol derivatives; cholestenes WISCONSIN ALUMNI RESEARCH FOUNDATION 2 Dec 1974 [3 Dec 1973] 52047/74 Headings C2V and C2U In a process for the preparation of 1α-hydroxycholecalciferol of formula cholesta - 1,5,7 - trien - 3# - ol is reacted with a triazoline-3,5-dione to obtain the novel adduct of formula where R<SP>1</SP> is an alkyl or aryl group; this is reacted with an epoxide to obtain the novel compound which is reduced with an alkali metal aluminium hydride to cholesta-5,7-diene-1α,3#-diol, the latter being radiated with ultraviolet rays and allowed to stand in the dark to obtain 1α- hydroxycholecalciferol of Formula I. An example is described. |
