1460770 Rotary kilns CREUSOT-LOIRE 24 Jan 1974 [21 Feb 1973] 03280/74 Heading B3A [Also in Division F4] A rotary enclosure comprises a cylindrical wall 2 supported by at least two radially projecting circular rolling hoops each of which comprises a circular ring formed from at least one strip 1 of rolled metal plate, the strip having the thickness of the ring and being incorporated into the wall by welding lateral faces 11 of the ring to the wall so that the inner surfaces of the wall and ring are in extension of one another and form the inner wall of the enclosure. The outer surface of the ring provides the outer surface of the loop. The members are formed by stamping and subsequent machining and welded end-to-end to form a circular ring, Fig. 2 (not shown). An outer tyre 4 of rolled steel may be shrunk on to the ring or welded thereto. Fins 13 may be machined on the side faces of the ring for cooling purposes. The inner wall of the enclosure is lined with bricks 3. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), a cavity (14) is provided around the ring to improve heat flow and lightness. |
