The articles 2 are simultaneously subjected to ultra-high frequency radiation and rapid air cooling under slightly reduced pressure. The apparatus comprises a resonant cavity 3 with a source of UHF power, an air-flow circuit (inlet 7, outlet 6), an extractor pump 5 and a device for conveying the articles in the resonant cavity.
