<p>An injection syringe for blood sampling comprises a cylinder with conical tip for attaching a removable needle and a piston connected to the drive shaft by an intermediate component; this intermediate component is connected to the front end of the drive shaft by a releasable connection mechanism. Pref. the releasable connection mechanism comprises a disc at the rear end of the intermediate component containing a notch through which a hook at the forward end of the shaft can be pushed; by rotating the shaft, the shaft and intermediate components are then connected together. There is pref. a central stud on this disc, engaging into the central aperture at the front end of the shaft. Used as a blood sampling syringe which can also be used as a test-tube for blood investigations, including separation of serum. For the latter purpose, the cap is substituted for the needle, after the needle and the drive shaft have been removed, and the capped cylinder is placed in a centrifuge.</p> |
