Cement suspension contg. water-soluble acrylic! resin - used in boreholes to form impervious cement

The suspension is obtd. by mixing a classic oil cement with water contg. a water-soluble resin with a setting time which can be controlled by the proportion of catalysts and additives which are incorporated in it. The resin used is partic. an acrylic resin of the 'Rocagil' (RTM) type and the proportion of acrylic resin in the water is similar to 11 wt. %. The cement does not contract on setting, and is non-permeable. Its adherence to the surrounding surfaces in the borehole is excellent. The setting of the resin can be controlled by the addn. of catalysts such as ammonium persulphate and diethylaminopropionitrile. The setting time can be retarded by the addn. of potassium ferrocyanide. The cement can be used to form an impermeable area between different gas zones encountered during drilling.
