The circuit drives an oscillating linear motor comprising two or more solenoids each acting on a magnetic armature that moves linearly in and out. The solenoids are coupled to a linkage that converts the oscillations into a circular motion. Each solenoid (21) is connected in series with a thyristor (39) between the supply poles. Each thyristor gate is connected via a resistor to a contact (36) in a rotary switch moved by the linkage. These contacts turn the thyristors alternately on and off.
