Diagnostic chair with inbuilt instruments - has weighing platform, optical detectors, radiation pyrometers, and microphones

The chair (10) used for diagnostic purposes and intended to provide data such as weight, size, temperature, pulse rate etc., is mounted on a weighing platform (14). A light detector system has detectors (20) mounted on the inside surface of the back, facing a beam of light (22). Incorporated in the inside surfaces of the arms are radiation pyrometers (26) for determining body temperature and also directional microphones (28) for recording the heart beats. These latter items (26, 28) are mounted at chest level. The whole of the back portion (16) is semicircular in cross section.
