Programmable matrix system with metal plugs - has diodes plugging into split metallised holes to connect orthogonal conductors

The programming matrix is constructed on a printed circuit board with circuits one or two sides (or multi-layered) and with metallised holes (3). The metal coating of each hole is split along its length in two places, such that the resulting segments form an electrical connection one with the transverse conductors (1) on one side and one with the longitudinal conductors (2) on the other side of the board. Metal plugs (5) (containing e.g. diodes) are inserted into the holes and connect together the segments -- i.e. connect together the transverse and longitudinal conductors.
