<p>The automatic balancing system for vehicle wheels comprises a circular hollow chamber of glass fibre reinforced polycarbonate next to the rim of the wheel (4). The chamber is filled with a suitable oil (8). The outside diameter of the chamber is matched to the inside dia. of the wheel flange (13). Within the oil-filled chamber is a heavy steel or lead ball (7). The upper shoulder (14) of the hollow chamber is narrower than the remaining part and fits into the profile formed by the wheel flange. When the wheel is rotating, centrifugal force forces the ball against the narrow shoulder to further reinforce the cohesion forces. The balancing device can easily be fitted by hand by merely pressing the narrow profiled upper part of the hollow body into the recess in the wheel flange by sideways and upwards pressure (22).</p> |
