1525212 Intumescent fireproof coating BATTELLE MEMORIAL INSTITUTE 2 June 1977 [4 June 1976] 23403/77 Heading C4A A self-hardening intumescent composition for a fireproof coating comprises (a) an aqueous solution containing 40-80 wt. per cent water soluble alkali metal (e.g. Na) silicate and 60-20 wt. per cent water and as a suspension of particles therein, (b) 20-60 wt. per cent (by weight of total composition) of solid particles of water-soluble, hydrated alkali metal (e.g. Na) silicate containing 15-20 wt. per cent of H 2 O, the molar ratio, SiO 2 /M 2 O (where M#alkali metal) of both silicates being 2-3À5. Fibrous mineral material may be included. |
